Headline Teaching Young Indian Couples Family Planning and Welfare
Caption Description Fifty-six young couples are taking part in pilot courses in population and family welfare education at the Maulana Azad College. Selected by two national trade union organizations, the great majority of the couples -- many of whom have young children--are members of the landless rural laboring class from several nearby villages. The courses are being organized by the Asian Trade Union College of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions, with the assistance of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA). In addition to family planning education, courses are also available, in cooking, home economics, child care, village administration, and the work of co-operatives and trade Unions.  Participants receive training in poultry raising, kitchen gardening, bakery and simple house construction.
Free child care is another service offered by the programme. October 1972.
